Women in Byzantium. Worship and art | New PIOP publication
|
|
2012-06: The volume of the Proceedings of the conference on Women in Byzantium. Worship and art, which was held within the framework of the 26th Symposium of the Christian Archaeological Society, has now enriched PIOP's publishing series "Conference Proceedings". The fifteen studies cover the subject in question from the paleo-Christian to the post-Byzantine period, examining the historical circumstances, the archaeological data, and the social and economic parameters within which women acted and expressed themselves. The texts mark the new tendencies and perspectives in archaeological research regarding the evolution of the role of women in Byzantium.
