May they thrive… silkworms hatched, grew and mated at the Silk Museum !

2010-07-01: The rearing of silkworms, a pilot project launched at the Silk Museum in early May, has been enthusiastically greeted by its visitors, both young and old: the seed hatched, the silkworms grew, they climbed into the branches and wove their cocoon, where they transformed into moths. Finally, they holed the cocoon so as to mate producing the new seed for next year's silkworm rearing!

The rearing of silkworms will continue for as long as the mulberries continue to be in leaf and thus provide the silkworms' food; for our part, we eagerly await the moment of new hatchlings...
