2009-07-27: For the first time, since 1967, the Communal Olive-press hooter is sounded, putting the old machinery into operation, at the Museum of Industrial Olive-Oil Production in Lesvos. The visitors of the Museum of Industrial Olive-Oil Production in Lesvos will have the opportunity to watch the "Communal Engine", the communal olive press, in operation. During this summer, the functional display will be put into operation on daily basis at 12:00 p.m. The steam-engine starts moving, mobilizing the olive mill, the high-pressure water pumps, the olive-press, the centrifugal separators of the De Laval type and the flour mill.
