|
|
2010-06-10: The volume Conservation, restoration and rehabilitation of monuments in Greece 1950-2000 edited by Haralambos Bouras and Panayotis Tournikiotis is now available (in Greek only). This collective work comprises 16 studies by well-known architects and archaeologists who have played an important role in the restoration of classified architectural monuments. The initiation of systematic efforts to preserve Greece’s monumental heritage dates back to the second half of the 20th century, without this meaning, of course, the subsequent adoption and especially application of a decisive State policy. The themes treated in this volume include the ideological and theoretical directions in the restoration processes, the chronicle of rehabilitations and the degree of their social acceptance, as well as subjects relating to the conservation and showcasing of Prehistoric, Classical, Byzantine and Modern monuments.
