2010-09-24: This year, too, the Piraeus Bank Group Cultural Foundation is participating in the celebration of the European Heritage Days (24-26 September 2010), whose theme for the two-year period 2009-2010 is magic and bears the title «Wizards, spells and talismans: magic in the ancient and Christian world».

The events organized by the Foundation are the following:

Silk Museum in Soufli:
Friday, 24/9, 9am – 1pm: art workshops for school groups whose activities include making a finger puppet, drawing and collage (kindergarten), making a witch doll (primary school grades 1-3) and dyeing silk fabrics according to the traditional «magic» manner (primary school grades 4-6).

Rooftile and Brickworks Museum N. & S. Tsalapatas in Volos:
Friday, 24/9, 9am – 1:30pm: workshops on creating talismans for school groups of the higher primary level (grades 4-6) with artist Loukia Richards, in the course of which the schoolchildren will make different types of talismans, bracelets, rings, etc. out of fabric with magic symbols, which they will decorate with semiprecious stones, glass, metal and other «magical» materials.
In parallel, in collaboration with the University of Thessaly, the Museum is participating in the celebration of the Night of the Research Worker, during which young visitors will be able to participate in the educational programme «Constructing bricks and tiles» on machines-miniatures of the production chain of the Rooftile and Brickworks Museum N. & S. Tsalapatas.

Museum of Marble Crafts in Tinos:
Friday, 24/9, 9am – 1pm: a specially conceived educational programme will take place for school groups of all primary education grades titled «The water sprite». The children will learn about the role of water in the life of humankind and the magic symbols associated with it and will then explore the Museum in search of the marble exhibits directly linked to water and focus on specific symbols and their meaning. Following this, they will be creatively occupied in art workshops (mosaics, collage, drawing) with sculptor-teacher Artemios Ghelandalis.
On Saturday 25/9 and Sunday 26/9, from 10am to 2pm, the educational programme «The water sprite» will be repeated for Primary School children and families.
