Piraerus Bank Group Foundation: The Europa Nostra Award 2012

2012-06-01: On Friday, June 1st, the Europa Nostra Award was conferred to the Piraeus Bank Group Cultural Foundation (PIOP) in the category "Dedicated Service", during a splendid ceremony organized by the Portuguese government in collaboration with Europa Nostra in Lisbon. The ceremony was held in the atrium of the Jeronimos Monastery, where the chairman of the European Commission, Mr Jose-Manuel Barroso, addressed a recorded message to the laureates and the attendees on culture as a pan-European investment. The Foundation's Award was presented to PIOP by the chairman of Europa Nostra, Maestro Placido Domingo, and the European Union Commissioner for Education and Culture, Ms Androulla Vassiliou, at the time when the Foundation's contribution to culture and Greek society was being presented.
