The Hadrianic Aqueduct of Corinth and the transportation of water in Roman times: New PIOP edition

2010-05-24: The book by archaeologist Yannis Lolos ¾äùñ âáóéëåýò Áäñéáíüò åóÞãáãåí åê ÓôõìöÞëïõ. The Hadrianic Aqueduct of Corinth and the transportation of water in Roman times is now available (in Greek only). This major technical work, which started at the springs of Stymphalia and ended approximately 85kms away in the ancient city of Corinth, was carried out during Hadrian’s rule. The aqueduct’s elevated and underground sections included an arched conduit, ditches, tunnels, viaducts and water bridges, as well as settling tanks. The accompanying drawings and especially the photographs reveal, respectively, the initial picture and the state of the architectural remains in the early 1990s, when the archaeological field survey was carried out.
