2011-02-2012: The Piraeus Bank Group Cultural Foundation (PIOP), in the context of its statutory goals and with a view to contributing to lifelong learning, is organizing a Workshop dedicated to the industrial heritage's lesser-studied parameters and its multiple indispensable approaches, in collaboration with the Hellenic Section of The International Committee for the Conservation of Industrial Heritage (TICCIH).

The historical industrial reserve is composed of any kind of information, material and immaterial, which can re-establish the industrial past. Consequently, an integrated study of industrial heritage comprises the examination not only of the material and natural remains of a particular activity, but also every type of source that can testify about it, such as the industrial landscape and the architectural structures (from the simpler utilitarian buildings to the most organized and refined), the recorded monuments and documents, but also the tools and mechanical equipment, the reconstituted production line and the products, the industrial archives and oral testimonies. Furthermore, the protection and showcasing of this heritage raises issues concerning its maintenance, reuse, museum representation, and the sensitization through education and the diffusion of information to broader groups of the public.

The Workshop is composed of five cycles (January - May 2012) of four or five lectures, which are followed by an exchange of opinions in the context of a round table and is targeted at professionals of related branches and students chiefly at a postgraduate level. The lectures of each session comprise global approaches, as well as integrated practical examples and the objective is that, after their necessary preparation, these will be housed in the pages of the BULLETIN of the TICCIH Hellenic Section. The sessions are held in PIOP's Multipurpose Hall at 6, Angelou Geronta Street, 17:00-19:00, in accordance with the attached programme. The inscriptions of participants are already closed.
