vr-1922

Utilizing virtual reality (VR), the temporary exhibition titled “1922” becomes digital and offers you the chance to explore it from anywhere using your computer, tablet or mobile phone.

The exhibition was presented in the Museum of the Industrial Olive-Oil Production of Lesvos (24 July 2023- 16 December 2024) for the centennial of the Treaty of Lausanne and covers the Asia Minor Campaign and the Catastrophe, the uprooting, the new life in Greece and the integration of refugees, the preservation of memory and the contribution made by the Asia Minor refugees to Lesvos.

Archival material, photographs, personal items, audio recordings and multimedia exhibits highlight the memories of the refugees and their contribution to the local community. The digital tour follows the exhibition, offering information about each object as well as the accompanying audiovisual productions.

Private collectors, local and national institutions and publishers contributed to the exhibition.

"1922" marked the completion of the Foundation's exhibition programme on the Asia Minor Catastrophe, which began in 2022 in Chios ("Across the sea", Chios Mastic Museum) and continued in Volos ("from Asia Minor", Rooftile and Brickworks Museum N. & S. Tsalapatas). The three exhibitions were held under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and the Federation of Refugee Associations in Greece.
