Certifications and Awards

The Foundation has developed and applies a Quality Management System, according to the EN ISO 9001:2008 Standard, certified by «TUV AUSTRIA HELLAS», for the following application fields:

  • Conception, feasibility study, construction, functioning, conservation and maintenance of a Museum Network in the Greek provinces
  • Organization of exhibitions and cultural events in the Network's Museums
  • Implementation of research programmes on recording, preserving, showcasing and promoting the pre-industrial and industrial heritage.


The Foundation has developed and implements an Environmental Management System, which organizes, in the most systematic way the monitoring, management and ultimately the reduction of the environmental impacts associated with its activities. The EMS applies to all of the Foundation’s building and activities The first Environmental Statement Foundation was verified, in accordance with the requirements of EMAS Regulation, by the Cyprus Certification Company (JMC), environmental verifier reg. no.  EMAS ELV-0009 (NO. 549), on 14.03.2014. The Foundation, in accordance with the No. 50486/1466 / 10.27.2014 Ministerial Decree, was registered in the Greek EMAS Register (registration number EL-000110).

 

For 2019, the Hellenic National Committee of the International Council Of Museums (ICOM) selected the Piraeus Bank Group Cultural Foundation as the honoured institution in the context of celebrating the International Museum Day on the theme "Museums as Cultural Hubs: The Future of Tradition".

 

In December 2018 the Academy of Athens at its Celebratory Meeting awarded the Silver Medal of the Order of Letters and Fine Arts to the Piraeus Bank Group Cultural Foundation. The Academy of Athens awards are given each year to persons and organisations selected for their contribution to society.

 

In 2012, the Piraeus Bank Group Cultural Foundation was awarded the Europa Nostra Award, in the category «Dedicated Service». The Award was presented to PIOP by the chairman of Europa Nostra, maestro Plácido Domingo, and the European Union Commissioner for Education and Culture, Ms Androulla Vassiliou.
